"Fat and Bald" These two adult Bald Eagles, (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), could easily become fat dining on leftover halibut from a fisherman's catch on a massive beach at Anchor Point in the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. The scraps left behind attracted approximately 12 eagles to shore, who squabbled about rights to the plentiful buffet. ©2013 Lisa Langell. All Rights Reserved.
"Trumpeter on Golden Pond" A Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator) paddles away from the nest and onto a golden layer of Water Lilies along a lake near Seward, Alaska in June 2013. Trumpeter Swans are a threatened species, though are gradually making a slow rebound due to heavy efforts to restore the population. They are North American's largest currently existing bird, weighing nearly 40 pounds and having 8 foot wingspans!
