Station #2
Station #3

During this session, we will photograph portraits throughout the western town set. This environment offers a variety of authentic backgrounds and storytelling opportunities that complement the cowboy and cowgirl theme of the workshop.

Example Images – Western Town Portraits

The images below show the types of portraits you can create in a relaxed western town setting. These examples highlight how natural posing, simple backgrounds, and western details can come together to create authentic portraits. Notice how small elements in the scene, like doors, wood textures, and props, can add context without distracting from the subject.

Station 3: Sheriff's Office

Located on the north side of the western town, this station focuses on low key photography to create dramatic, cinematic western portraits. We will photograph cowboys in a darker environment using low-powered lights to carefully control what is illuminated and what falls into shadow.

This setup emphasizes mood, contrast, and storytelling. You will learn how subtle, controlled lighting can highlight your subject while keeping the background and surrounding areas intentionally dark for a classic western feel.

Please follow staff direction for rotation timing and positioning to keep the session running smoothly.

Flash Station

Recommended Lens: Mid (70-200), Wide (15-70)

Models: Rycke, Sam

Staff: Lisa, Dan

Time: 35

Example Images – Sheriff’s Office Low Key

The image below shows the type of low key portraits you can create using minimal, controlled lighting. This example illustrates how light can be used sparingly to reveal your subject while allowing shadows to create mood and depth. Notice how selective lighting draws attention to expressions, hats, and textures while maintaining a dark, cinematic atmosphere.
