(details below)

1:30 PM -2:30 PM | Introductions in Saloon

During this time, we will bring everyone together in the Saloon to introduce our entire workshop staff and all the participating photographers. This will give everyone a chance to meet each other and learn a little about the roles of the people involved in making the workshop happen.

We would like Jesse to be present so we can introduce him as our Head Wrangler and explain his role in coordinating the horses, riders, and action scenes throughout the workshop.

Jesse is welcome to bring any of his team members, and we would be happy to introduce them as well. Once introduced, his team is welcome to leave and take care of any work or preparations needed. There is no need for them to stay for the entire introduction session. We would just like Jesse to be present.

If Jesse would like to say a few words to the group, share any expectations, or discuss safety guidelines, this would be a great opportunity to do so.

5:15 PM – Sunset PM | Cowboys on Horseback at Sunset

This will be our first photography session of the workshop. The goal is to capture cowboys riding along the ridgeline with the setting sun behind them, creating dramatic backlit images and silhouettes.

Location and Positioning:

Photographers will be positioned east of the ridge, shooting west toward the setting sun. We would like the cowboys to ride back and forth along the top of the ridgeline, as illustrated on the map.

The yellow lines on the map are simply intended to show the general riding area and direction of travel, not an exact route. Jesse can determine the best path and turnaround points based on the terrain and what is safest for the horses and riders.

Horse and Rider Action:

Most of the action should involve faster riding along the ridgeline in both directions. However, we would also like some slower passes and walking to provide a variety of photographic opportunities.

Lisa will direct the action using her bullhorn and can communicate directly with Jesse by radio if she sees an opportunity to adjust the speed, spacing, direction, or positioning of the riders.

Timing and Pacing:

We plan to photograph from approximately 5:15 PM until sunset, around 6:15 PM. We would like opportunities to photograph the horses throughout this hour, but we certainly don't expect them to run continuously.

Jesse should manage the pace, alternating faster runs with slower riding, walking, and rest periods as needed to keep the horses comfortable and avoid tiring them too quickly.

Communication with Photographers:

One of our priorities is making sure photographers know what is about to happen so they can prepare their cameras and compositions.

Whenever possible, we would appreciate Jesse announcing what the riders will be doing next, particularly when changing speeds, directions, or the type of action. Lisa can also relay these instructions to the photographers through her bullhorn.

We want to avoid surprising photographers with unexpected action, giving everyone the best opportunity to capture the shots.

Our Goal:

Create a variety of dramatic sunset images featuring cowboys riding along the ridgeline, with a good mix of faster action and slower movement.

Jesse has the final say on what is safe and appropriate for the horses and riders. We welcome any suggestions or adjustments that will help us accomplish these shots safely and effectively.

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM | Dinner in the Saloon

Following our sunset shoot, we'll return to the Saloon for a catered dinner.

Jesse and his entire team are invited, and we would love for everyone to join us! This is a great opportunity to relax, enjoy a meal, and get to know our photographers.

We encourage the team to mingle with the guests during dinner. Our photographers will love hearing your stories about ranch life, working with horses, and experiences in the movie industry. This kind of personal interaction is a big part of what makes the workshop special, and we know our guests will enjoy getting to know everyone.

During dinner, Lisa will also review the next day's agenda with the photographers.
