(DETAILS BELOW)

5:00 AM - 5:30 AM | Breakfast

Everyone can grab some breakfast, and get ready for a full day. We’ll go over any last-minute details before heading out for our first shoot of the day.

6:00 AM -6:45 AM | Silhouettes on Ridge with Riders

We will return to the ridgeline for another sunrise silhouette session, but this time we will focus exclusively on our four horseback riders.

Although we will have additional horses on location for the horse drive later in the morning, we will not need them for this session. With silhouette photography, having too many horses together makes it difficult to create clean, recognizable shapes. Using just four riders will allow us to maintain good separation and create stronger compositions.

We would like the four cowboys to ride back and forth along the top of the ridgeline at varying speeds, including walking, slower riding, and faster runs.

Our photographers especially love capturing horses running at full speed, so we would certainly like to include some faster action when possible. However, we recognize that we have additional activities planned throughout the day and don't want to tire the horses too early.

We will rely on Jesse to determine how much running is appropriate, balancing the photographic opportunities with the horses' stamina and the demands of the rest of the day.

Lisa will coordinate with Jesse by radio or bullhorn to direct any adjustments to the action, spacing, or positioning.

6:45 AM - 7:00 AM Transition

Following our sunrise silhouette session, we will transition to the two horse corrals for our morning horse drive. During this time, Jesse and his team can prepare the horses while our photography staff gets the photographers into position for the next shoot.

7:00 AM - 8:15 AM | Horse Drive

For this session, we will have two horse corrals positioned at opposite ends of the ridgeline, far enough apart that one corral is not visible from the other.

Our photographers will be divided into two groups, with each group positioned safely inside one of the corrals.

Once everyone is in position, we would like Jesse and his team to drive the horses along the ridgeline from one corral toward the other. The goal is to have the horses running directly toward the photographers, giving them the opportunity to capture dramatic head-on action shots.

As the horses approach each corral, Jesse and his team will guide them safely around the outside, allowing photographers to capture additional images as the horses pass by.

Once the horses have passed a corral, Jesse and his team will turn them around and drive them back toward the opposite corral, repeating the same process in the other direction.

This back-and-forth action will give both groups of photographers opportunities to capture the horses approaching head-on and passing alongside their corrals.

We would love to repeat this several times, but we will rely on Jesse to determine the appropriate number of runs and the pace that is safe and comfortable for the horses.

Safety is our top priority. Jesse will determine the safest routes, turning points, and distances from the corrals. All photographers will remain inside their designated corrals throughout the horse drive, and we will coordinate with Jesse before each run to make sure everyone is ready.

10:50 AM – 11:50 AM | Lunch in the Saloon

Jesse and his entire team are welcome to join us for lunch in the Saloon. We would love for everyone to take this opportunity to relax and interact with our guests.

We encourage the team to mingle with the photographers and share stories about ranch life, working with horses, and experiences in the movie industry. Our guests will love getting to know the cowboys, and these personal interactions are a big part of what makes the workshop special.

4:30 - Sunset | Running Horses at Sunset

For this session, we will divide our 20 photographers into two groups of 10. One group will be positioned near the Young Riders House, while the other will be positioned on the south end of the ridgeline.

Both groups will photograph the horses from designated safety corrals, allowing us to capture dramatic running shots with the evening light.

We would like Jesse and his team to drive the horses from the north end of the road, past the Young Riders House. This should provide both groups with opportunities to photograph the horses as they approach and pass their positions.

Once the horses have completed the run, Jesse and his team will turn them around, return to the starting position, and prepare for another pass.

We would love to repeat this to give photographers multiple opportunities to capture the action. As always, we will rely on Jesse to determine the appropriate number of runs and pacing based on the horses' condition.

Lisa can coordinate with Jesse by radio to ensure both groups are ready before each run begins.
