Station 1: Saloon in Yellow Hotel
MODEL: 1 - Bartender & Gary Erickson
-----------------------
For this session, we will have two models posing at the bar inside the Yellow Hotel while our photography staff demonstrates a multiple-light setup.
One of you will play the bartender, while the other will be a customer enjoying a drink. We want to create a natural Old West bar scene, with the two of you interacting as though you're having a conversation.
Our photography staff will guide you through different poses, expressions, and interactions while adjusting the lighting to create a variety of looks.
You will spend most of the session in position at the bar, with minimal movement required.
Station 2: Poker in the Oriental
MODEL: Preston Bell & Johnny Vegas
-----------------------
For this session, you will be acting out an Old West poker game while our instructor Lori teaches photographers how to light and photograph a scene with multiple people.
We will have you seated around the poker table, interacting with one another as though you're in the middle of a lively game. Lori will direct you through several actions, including tossing poker chips, dealing or flicking cards, raking in winnings, and reacting to what happens during the game.
Most of the session will be spent seated or standing at the table, with occasional action and repeated movements so photographers can capture different expressions and interactions.
Lori will guide the action and make adjustments to your positions as she works through different lighting setups.
Station 3: Photography Studio
MODEL: Gary Hecksel (Photographer, One of Jesses Female Riders
-----------------------
For this session, we will recreate an old-time photography studio, which seems especially appropriate for a group of photographers!
You will help us bring the scene to life by portraying a photographer and a subject having his portrait taken in the 1880s.
Our photography staff will use a combination of natural light and flash to create images that tell a story. We will guide you through different poses and interactions, such as the photographer adjusting the camera, positioning the cowboy, or preparing to take his portrait.
Most of the session will involve simple movements and poses as we work to capture the atmosphere of an authentic Old West photography studio.
Station 4: Low Key Portrait
MODEL: Lynne Steel
-----------------------
For this session, you will pose for a series of dramatic, low-key Western portraits using a prop to add character and interest to the scene.
Our photography staff will use controlled lighting to highlight your face, clothing, and the prop while keeping most of the background in shadow. We will also experiment with depth of field to create different looks, drawing attention to specific details while softly blurring other parts of the scene.
We will guide you through different poses and ways of interacting with the prop. This will be a relatively relaxed session with minimal movement required.
